‘It’s a festival we all wanted to do’

Eagle’s Rock gets ready for one of its most exciting birthday bashes yet as festival headliners Therapy? prepare to take the ‘Small But Massive’ festival on an exciting adventure.

A Brief Crack Of Light, the iconic NI band’s most recent album was released earlier this year to widespread acclaim, finding the trio back on fighting fit form and showing the world that they hadn’t gone away.

We caught up with Michael McKeegan to capture his feelings ahead of the Eagle’s Rock weekender.

Excited? “Very much so. Paddy (Glasgow) has been in touch with us in one way or another for a few years now and we’ve either been double-booked or unable to do it before,” said the bassist.

“But we spoke together as a band from last year and were very specific in saying that we’ll do it this time round, it’s the one we all agreed we wanted to do.”

This year’s event will also see a piece of history made as Therapy? headline their first ever NI festival, an achievement which Glasgowbury are proud to be a part of.

And with over 20 years experience in the music industry, cementing their place as rock giants with the 90s’ Mercury nominated album Troublegum, the NI trio will have a massive back catalogue of material to work from come this Saturday night.

“Alan from LaFaro has been standing in for us on some European dates recently and it’s went really well,” he said – Alan will also play with the band at Glasgowbury.

“It’s been a wee bit of a twist for us throwing some older songs into the mix which has been a nice change but we’re really looking forward to getting a chance to playing them at Glasgowbury too.”

“I’ve never been to the festival before,” he admits, “but almost everyone I know has been and I’ve heard great things about it from them all so I’m really looking forward to finally getting up to it.”

And get up they shall, as Therapy? finish off proceedings on the Small But Massive stage this Saturday night, bringing the 12th annual Glasgowbury Music Festival to a close.
