Programmes

“We have a long running friendship with Paddy, Stella and the rest of the guys that have worked tirelessly over the years to establish the Glasgowbury group as an organisation at the forefront of grassroots music here in Northern Ireland. From the very first time we played the Glasgowbury Festival back in 2007 as a young band very much at the beginning of our careers, we were made to feel so welcome and gained a sense of family connection with them that exists to this day.

Myself and Rory were extremely privileged to be invited down to the Cornstore last summer to take part in drums and guitar workshops and had the opportunity to work directly with young musicians brought together by Glasgowbury to share and learn new techniques and find their own voice as a musician. The format of workshops at the Cornstore creates a laid back and welcoming atmosphere for the young musicians that allow them to express themselves and ask questions that they might not have had the chance to do in any other environment. Myself and Rory found it really satisfying to be able to recount a lot of our own experiences as musicians, from how we’ve progressed with our instruments over the years as well as experience our time touring.

We were two of countless workshops they run throughout the year; what Glasgowbury are providing is an arena in which young aspiring musicians can develop their own style as well as having access to experienced musicians that they can draw value lessons from and become better musicians as a result.”
