Call for festival jobs and volunteers

‘A ‘Small But Massive’ force that supports and enhances creativity within individuals and communities’

Glasgowbury was founded in 2000 with the first Glasgowbury Music Festival and has become the longest running and most award-winning festival in Ireland, celebrating and showcasing the best in new and emerging music from these shores.

The festival grew from a need to support and develop homegrown artists at a time when the music industry here was in its infancy. Throughout its lifespan, Glasgowbury would expand throughout the arts delivering a host of creative and practical projects and initiatives for its local area.

With a small team, Glasgowbury currently undertake the following activities:

  • Glasgowbury Music Festival – the multi award winning annual celebration
  • G Sessions – monthly showcase gigs for new artists
  • Rural Key Music Project – an award-winning project offering advice and support in the music industry to aspiring musicians
  • Boogie Buddies – youth and adult dance classes
  • Creative and mentoring programmes tailored to the needs of specific individuals and groups
  • GEMS (Glasgowbury Event Management Services) – Consultancy/PA and Sound Engineer Hire

.

It is Glasgowbury’s aim to build a strong and identifiable brand which aims to support and enhance the profile of new and emerging artists from Northern Ireland and beyond while making arts accessible and available to all at a local level.

The annual Glasgowbury Music Festival is key to the company’s success at delivering our message of support for new music while this message is kept alive all year round through other initiatives such as monthly showcase gigs the G Sessions.

It is Glasgowbury’s vision to open the doors to a working music and arts space in Draperstown from which to house a majority of its activities while making extra arts activities available at a grassroots level.

Glasgowbury is a limited company and registered charity and is governed by an independent Board of Directors.

In July 2012 Glasgowbury will deliver their 12th Music Festival; an event which relies on the energy, enthusiasm and commitment of many volunteers and temporary workers.

We are now recruiting for paid workers and volunteers for the 2012 Festival and for Glasgowbury’s overall activities.

Glasgowbury join forces with Red Bull Bedroom Jam

Glasgowbury and Red Bull will link up this Summer to give lucky acts the opportunity to take their music from their bedroom to festival stages.

As well as bringing some exciting new infrastructure to the festival site, Glasgowbury will also be one of Ireland’s key festivals to offer a slot to a winning Red bull Bedroom Jam act.

“It’s time to stop singing into your hairbrush and get busy making a video of you and your band,” said a Red Bull spokesperson.

“The Red Bull Bedroom Jam is back and you can win the chance to play some of Ireland’s top festivals including Glasgowbury, Castle Palooza & Sea Sessions, while also playing at the live final and recording in a Red Bull Studio in either LA, Cape Town, Amsterdam or London etc.”

The Red Bull Bedroom Jam offers a once in a lifetime opportunity for lucky acts to gain exposure via the coveted competition, redesigned this year to specifically benefit Irish acts.

Simply upload a video to the Red Bull Bedroom Jam website, get your fans to vote and bump you up the charts and a filming crew could soon be up to record your very own bedroom jam session.

From there one lucky act will be chosen to play a highly sought after slot at this year’s festival alongside some of the best new and emerging Irish talent.

Cashier No 9 headline March G Session

Following an amazingly successful year in which they headlined Glasgowbury 2011 and released their debut album, Cashier No. 9 are again set to take this year by the scruff of the neck.

The Belfast sextet keep their foot on the pedal early this year by rejoining the Glasgowbury team for a headline slot at the G Sessions in Draperstown on Saturday 3rd March.

Among other things they’ll be celebrating their recent nod for the Choice Music Award in Dublin where at the time of writing they were 2nd favourites for the esteemed prize.

Bangor four piece Kowalski will provide support on the evening, bringing their unique blend of electro indie pop to the Draperstown table.

Completing the bill are local lads Pretty Child Backfire who are preparing to re-launch themselves in 2012 with exciting prospects ahead.

Last time Cashier No. 9 and the G Sessions joined forces in May 2011 doors were closed early and patrons were left disappointed. This time around, you can get your tickets before-hand from both the Cellar Bar and Glasgowbury office in Draperstown – for just £5.
