We are proud to announce the introduction of a SIXTH stage at this year’s festival.

The Generator Stage in association with Red Bull will feature a host of exciting DJ talent throughout the day including some up and coming electronic acts alongside some established DJs.

The Red Bull Generator stage will also offer opportunities for some emerging DJ talent including Viasidus Lumos, Casion and Kanon while a number of prolific club night and radio DJs will play some chilled out, good time vibes throughout the day including Phil Taggart, Stephen McCauley, Paul McClean and Rigsy.

Festival organiser Paddy Glasgow will also perform a short set featuring highlights of one act from every year of the Glasgowbury’s twelve-year history.

“The new stage is to create a nice, chilled out atmosphere on the festival site,” said the man himself. “We’ve a range of different styles playing throughout the day which people will be able to connect with and hopefully hear a new artist or two.

“It’s a platform that some new and emerging talent can use to showcase their music while at times it’ll be an area where people can join in the festival spirit in an extra way.”

The Generator Stage will also double up as a Red Bull cocktail bar throughout the day with a selection of new and exciting drinks on offer.

Glasgowbury are delighted to announce we will link with the Northern Ireland Cancer Fund For Children (NICFC) as this year’s official charity partner.

The NICFC help and support children living with cancer and their families through difficult times, offering practical, emotional and financial support.

The local organisation help hundreds of families through the most difficult of times every year but will aim to put a smile on people’s faces as they climb the hill to Glasgowbury 2012.

As well as having a physical presence on site to raise awareness of their work, we will also welcome back the ‘Busk Stop‘ which will see performances from festival acts and some special guests throughout the day who will play to raise money for the charity – the better they play, the more you pay!

Members of the public are also encouraged to pick up an instrument and play if they feel the urge.

“As a charity ourselves, we understand the importance of raising awareness and funds to continue year round activities,” said festival organiser Paddy Glasgow.

“Each year Glasgowbury works closely with a designated charity to raise awareness and some much needed resources for a worthwhile cause and we’re delighted to be helping out such a hard working charity this year.

“The Busk Stop is something we introduced in 2010 to encourage acts to continue the party after their set but we’re excited that this year it will have a purpose and as well as seeing some acts up close and personal, including some special guests, people will have the chance to donate to the charity.”

Pick up the magazine for an NI special with interviews and features based around Glasgowbury 2012.

The free CD features a total of 16 tracks from a selection of acts from across Ireland and the magazine will be available from Thursday 28th June.

We are pleased to announce that Chambers Coach Hire are the official bus providers for Glasgowbury 2012.

The local service will run buses from throughout NI the evening before the festival. All you have to do is ring Chambers to book your spot! Contact the local team on 028 2764 1880.

Book a place and a bus will pick you up on Friday evening (July 20th) and return you home safely on Sunday (July 22nd). While in the festival arena you will also have unlimited free use of the shuttle bus service between the festival site and car park.

They will also run a day return service from Belfast on Saturday 21st July, returning that night. Contact them for full details.

Most runs will be charged at £20 per person (which includes unlimited shuttle bus use within the festival arena). In order to travel with Chambers you must book your place first. Do it now! Call them on 028 2764 1880.

Please note that anyone booking a different bus service to the festival will have to disembark at the campsite and will have to purchase a shuttle bus ticket to the festival arena.

The full and completed line-up for this year’s festival has now been completed and we are delighted to welcome a further 10 acts to this year’s festival.

NI rock legends Therapy? are set to cap off this year’s event alongside previously announced acts The Japanese Popstars, Fighting With Wire, LaFaro, Silhouette and many more.

Joining them from this new announcement will be Mojo Fury, Rams’ Pocket Radio, Triggerman, Empty Lungs, Swanee River, The Red Velvetines, Paul Casey and Ard Ri with a special Rural Key collective showcase and the Red Bull Bedroom Jam winners Icon On Fire.

The completed bill now includes 52 musical acts featuring some of the best new and emerging talent from across Ireland, with a total of six stages showcasing something to suit all tastes.

“Selecting the line-up for this year’s festival was one of the most difficult yet due to the quality of submissions we received,” said festival organiser Paddy Glasgow.

“The team listened to over 700 entries and had the hard task of breaking that down into 50 acts.

“We feel that we’ve programmed one of the most vibrant festival programmes yet however, with the largest array of styles on show, and with something to suit almost everyone.

“Away from the musical side of things there’s excitement for all with a comedy tent, village area a host of kids activities and much more to keep your festival spirit alive across the weekend,” he added.

“I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single person who took the time to submit for this year’s event,” said Paddy.

FOLLOWING the ‘small but massive’ success of a G Spot comedy stage at last year’s festival, Glasgowbury are delighted to announce its return for 2012.

Headlined by Irish based New Zealand comic Danny Dowling, the stage will also feature a plethora of up and coming Irish talent.

Dowling, a regular face around Ireland’s comedy clubs has played everything from support slots for comedy greats including Tommy Tiernan to major Irish comedy festivals.

He may be best known however for winning Ireland’s Come Dine With Me programme with a series high score for throwing 250 custard pies at his fellow contestants.

Throughout the day, the G Spot comedy stage, run in conjunction with the team at Panicdots.com, will feature a further 7 slots filled by some fantastic new talent.

Monaghan born comedienne Niamh Marron‘s exuberant style will work well as the only female acts amongst the men; her excitable style setting her out as one of Ireland’s premier female acts.

Joining them will be a couple of Glasgowbury returnees in Colin Geddis (best known for his I Am Fighter work) and Micky Bartlett.

Meanwhile the line-up is completed by Magic George, Ronan Linskey, Ryan Hand and Philip McEwan – acts judged to be showcasing their work to great effect across the country.

“Comedy is just one part of what makes a vibrant and exciting festival,” said organiser Paddy Glasgow.

“Glasgowbury aims to be the sort of event which showcases new talent across a range of arts. And the comedy scene in Ireland is a really exciting one at the moment so we’re delighted to be able to include a stage full of it,” he said.

The wait is over, the search is finished and the bedrooms have been wrecked beyond repair – but all for a good cause.

The Red Bull Bedroom Jam has finished its hunt for some of Ireland’s freshest talent and three lucky winners have been chosen including Icon On Fire who earn the opportunity to play at Glasgowbury 2012.

From January 19^th, fledgling Irish bands from Belfast to Bandon and Dublin to Dunmore East, have been uploading their videos to the competition website with six bands topping the buzz over the course of the competition and winning a live recording from their bedrooms.

Since the beginning of May, 6 Buzz Chart finalists along with two wildcards selected by the judges have been involved in an online battle to take their acts from the bedroom to the front stage of Ireland’s key music festivals.

And we are delighted to announce that Mullingar five piece Icon On Fire will join this year’s Glasgowbury bill.

The collective, split between Dublin, Belfast and Mullingar, are one of three acts jotting off across the country to Ireland’s best festivals this summer thanks to Red Bull.

From there, the bands will go on to compete in the Bedroom Jam live final in Whelan’s, Dublin on August 16th where one overall winner will be chosen to travel to one of the international Red Bull Studios for a week of recording with a top producer.

Glasgowbury was founded in 2000 with the first Glasgowbury Music Festival and has become the longest running and most award-winning festival in Ireland, celebrating and showcasing the best in new and emerging music from these shores.

The festival grew from a need to support and develop homegrown artists at a time when the music industry here was in its infancy. Throughout its lifespan, Glasgowbury would expand throughout the arts delivering a host of creative and practical projects and initiatives for its local area.

With a small team, Glasgowbury currently undertake the following activities:

• Glasgowbury Music Festival – the multi award winning annual celebration
• G Sessions – monthly showcase gigs for new artists
• Rural Key Music Project – an award-winning project offering advice and support in the music industry to aspiring musicians
• Boogie Buddies – youth and adult dance classes
• Creative and mentoring programmes tailored to the needs of specific individuals and groups
• GEMS (Glasgowbury Event Management Services) – Consultancy/PA and Sound Engineer Hire

It is Glasgowbury’s aim to build a strong and identifiable brand which aims to support and enhance the profile of new and emerging artists from Northern Ireland and beyond while making arts accessible and available to all at a local level.

Aside from the festival, Glasgowbury offers other volunteering opportunities at, for example, Boogie Buddies Dance classes, computer start-up programmes and creative programme tutors.
