Rams’ Pocket Radio in pre-Christmas G Session

AS part of an Irish tour, Rams’ Pocket Radio stops off at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown on Saturday 3rd December to celebrate with a pre-Christmas G Session spectacular.

The alter-ego of Peter McCauley, Rams’ has been enjoying the most successful of years yet following festival appearances throughout the UK and coveted support slots to the likes of Darwin Deez and Snow Patrol.

With new EP ‘Dogs Run In Packs’, he’s stretched his legs yet further with a sophisticated songwriting style that he’s managed to make his own, enthralling many in the process.

Support on the night comes in the form of the Katie And The Carnival and Window Seats.

Katie and her carnival collective have also enjoyed a hugely enjoyable and successful year with the release of her debut single alongside a highly memorable festival appearance at Glasgowbury.

Window Seats too have been making huge waves with their blend of indie rock, best observed with ‘Local Superhero’ and it’s insanely brilliant video.

All three join forces under the one roof on Saturday 3rd December for a night of much celebrating. Doors are at 9pm and admission is £5.

LaFaro showcase new album at November G Session

INITIALLY SCHEDULED TO TAKE PLACE ON NOVEMBER 19TH, THIS GIG HAS NOW BEEN MOVED TO SATURDAY 5TH NOVEMBER.

Belfast rock beasts LaFaro are set to destroy Draperstown on Saturday 5th November when they take to the stage at the G Sessions.

Celebrating the release of new album Easy Meat, the four piece will roll into the Cellar Bar in Draperstown amid a swell of well deserved and rightfully placed praise for their second album.

Known for their famed live performances during which they pour their heart, guts and soul on to the stage, LaFaro have played out some of their most memorable gigs under the G Sessions banner and this November will be no exception.

Support on the night comes from Derry rock kings Fighting With Wire who will showcase material from follow-up album Bones Of The Twilight due for release next year.

The whole thing kicks off from 9pm at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown on Saturday 5th November and admission is £5.

MTC head up October G Session

Fresh from some main stage action at this year’s Glasgowbury Music Festival, More Than Conquerors headline the first G Session proper of our new gigging year.

Taking place at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown on Saturday 1st October, the gig sees three of the hottest young talents around gathering under one roof.

Since they formed in early 2009 the Belfast based MTC have risen to prominence in the local music scene with memorable live shows backed up by some killer hook laden songs.

Earlier this year their efforts even saw them picked up and signed to Smalltown America Records where they’ve been readying new material to take their work to the next stage.

Joining them for the experience will be Runaway Go (formerly Phoenix Fire), the stunningly atmospheric five piece led by a unique male/female dual vocal.

Completing the bill is Colly Strings, the Bangor four piece who stormed an opening slot at this year’s festival with their fantastic indie sensibilities.

The whole thing kicks off at 9pm at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown on Saturday 1st October, admission: £5.

Line-up announced for IMRO Showcase Tour

We’re delighted to announce that we will be linking up with IMRO and their acclaimed IMRO Showcase Tour again this September.

The gig will be the first G Session of the new gigging year for Glasgowbury and our first since this year’s festival.

We are delighted to announce that the night will feature four extremely exciting acts in the form of:

  • Rams’ Pocket Radio
  • Intermission
  • Our Krypton Son
  • Mojo GoGo

Taking place on Saturday 10th September at the Cellar Bar, the event will be one in a series of gigs for the IMRO Showcase Tour which will also take place in cities such as Belfast, Cork and Dublin.

In previous years acts such as LaFaro, Here Comes The Landed Gentry and Building Pictures have all performed at coveted Draperstown leg of the tour, in highly memorable performances.

Paddy Glasgow said it was a privilege to once again welcome the IMRO team to the G Sessions and looked forward to celebrating the acts on show.

Pre-festival gigs

As a lead up to the big day on July 23rd, there will be some tasty gig treats to get you in the right mood.

First up there’s the official Glasgowbury warm-up at The Menagerie in Belfast this Friday, 15th July.

Rocket 88 Promotions have organised the celebratory bash with two fine local talents and festival players; Axis Of and The Rupture Dogs.

The whole sweaty affair kicks off from 9pm at The Menagerie in Belfast. Come along – we might even have some festival goodies for you to get your hands on!

Friday 22nd July:

The Cellar Bar in Draperstown has a cracking line-up with Mental Deficiency and The Q suitably wrecking things before the big day.

*There will be also be a bus running to the site on the night and it’s imperative that you are already arm-banded and checked in to the festival beforehand otherwise you won’t get access to the festival site on the Friday night.*

Or get your ass to Derry where LaFaro, The Rupture Dogs and Event Horses are going to tear strips off Sandinos walls.

Then they make their way down over the hill for the big day on Saturday!

Swanee River and Cashier No 9 lead May G Sessions

Two local music heavyweights lead the G Sessions charge throughout May when Swanee River and Cashier No 9 lead their respective charges.

First up on Saturday 7th May, Swanee River will use the occasion to celebrate the launch of their second album.

The Derry rockers get set to launch their new album, preparing for it with the inclusion of one of their new songs on a CD destined for the front cover of Classic Rock Magazine.

Support comes from Lurgan power duo The Bonnevilles.

Later in the month, on Saturday 21st May, the mighty Cashier No 9 stop in to locally launch new single Goldstar while also promoting their debut album which is due to hit shelves in the coming months.

2011 is shaping up to be a successful year for the Belfast alt-rock-folk outfit who have also just announced their signing to Bella Union Records.

Support is provided from up-and-coming Newry outfit Elspeth, also with an album out later this year.

So basically the May G Sessions will become a big album love-in.

Mojo Fury headline March G Session

Ahead of the release of their highly anticipated debut album, Visiting Hours Of A Travelling Circus, on March 14th, Mojo Fury return to the Glasgowbury G Sessions to celebrate.

The acclaimed four piece will play the Cellar Bar in Draperstown on Saturday 5th March.

Growing in size and prominence since they first graced the G Sessions stage many moons ago, the lads are gearing up for the release of what is surely one of the most anticipated debut albums of the year.

Already confirmed for a host of UK dates including high profile festivals, Mojo Fury will be one of the most sought after live bands for 2011.

Support comes a duo of three pieces in the shape of heavy punk maestros Axis Of and up-and-coming Derry rockers Intermission, fronted by ex-Kharma 45’s Glenn Rosborough.

Doors open at 9pm and admission is £5.

February G Session double-header

The 2011 G Sessions return in February with a double-header of gigs to kick-start the new year in style.

To celebrate the return of the local showcase, Glasgowbury have arranged two nights of musical pleasure.

First up, LaFaro will kick-start the G Session trail on February 5th at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown, returning for their first headline slot since 2009 when they tore shreds from the venue and those in attendance. Support comes from the wonderful Seven Summits.

Later in the month rap-rock monsters Team Fresh take over headlining duties on February 19th with support from ska supremos Pocket Billiards. Expect things to get loud and messy, in a good way.

All gigs take place at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown from 9pm. Admission £5.

You Are campaign joins forces with G Sessions

Glasgowbury are proud to announce that we will link with the You Are team as part of their campaign to enhance the profile of NI music and the music scene here as a whole.

The You Are crew and Glasgowbury have organised a special gig for December 4th with some of the finest talent currently doing the rounds from throughout the country.

Joining the celebrations at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown will be Cashier No 9, Mojo Fury, The Jane Bradfords, Furlo and John D’Arcy & The Great Bunch Of Lads.

Glasgowbury will also use the night as a chance to celebrate and showcase their official festival films from Glasgowbury 2010 so come along and relive the magic that was this year’s festival.

Pretty Child Backfire headline November G Session

Local lads turned good Pretty Child Backfire will locally launch new single All The Things Said In The Twilight at the November G Session.

Riding the crest of a metaphorical wave in recent times, the young four piece have enjoyed early success including a slot at Glasgowbury 2009 and have more recently made the Oh Yeah ‘Contenders’ CD, tipped as one of the bands from NI to watch.

The boys will headline the G Session on Saturday 6th November at the Cellar Bar in Draperstown.

Support will come from Derry punks The Q who with a revamped line-up look set to make an impression on the scene again while Gascan Ruckus complete the bill with their pounding punk style that has them tipped for the top.
