A Plastic Rose are that Awesome they get listed twice!

    • May 26, 2010 | Permalink |

Indeed. Perhaps they’re playing twice, or the second is a lazily named tribute band. I should really go fix that :)

Fighting With Wire… no offence, are not a headlining band for a festival who want to expand! last year with asiwyfa as headline was even worse (although asiwyfa are a better band and i think they are great)

think other bands other than general fiasco, fww, 2 door, asiwyfa, panama kings and la faro should be given a chance! the n.i scene is boring now cause its always the same bands who play!

Just because AU “heart” them doesn’t mean they are any good! prob the opposite actually!

    • May 29, 2010 | Permalink |

You say that ASIWYFA were a bad choice of headliners for last year?
Even tho last year was the 1ST year Glasgowbury has every Sold out!
Winning “Best Line-up” at the Irish Festival Awards beating the likes of Belsonic and Oxygen!
FWW were supposed to headliner last year but they got called out to america, so why not give them the slot this year?

They Deserve it, They’ve worked for it and they are not the only band on at that time, if you dont want to see them, go to one of the tents.

The festival is a highlight in the summer calendar for all local muso’s. However, i cant help but notice a large number of the same artists appearing on the line-up. Surely there are more new ‘newer’ bands out there to keep the line-up fresh??
It seems to be that Derry and Belfast bands are taking the limelight.
What about supporting the rural bands.. the main reason the festival was created in the first place.
But hey, il be there somewhere on the day. FFW? mmm…. aint i heard of them before???
    Enuff said.

    • June 2, 2010 | Permalink |

Over half of the acts confirmed for this year’s festival are ‘new”.
The festival was created to support new talent from throughout Ireland, not just rural artists. If it was a festival full of ‘rural’ acts then repeats would be even more frequent. In fact, look into the acts a little further and you’ll probably find that most are from a ‘rural’ backgorund anyway!
And those acts that are returning are doing so because they’re celebrating big things – new albums etc, as is the case for LaFaro and General Fiasco who are promoting their worldwide releases while Fighting With Wire, Fight Like Apes and In Case Of Fire etc are preparing to launch new albums. Shouldn’t these successful acts be given a chance to return?

Good lineup, but ASIWYFA, Jaded Sun and Dutch Schultz would be good to see again. Hopefully they’ll be one of the surprises.
W.A.R. were deadly last year as well, but I doubt they’ll be playing……

Personally think its a cracking line-up, and can’t wait! Surprised to see negativity in the comments but I guess you can’t please everyone – suppose people are much more likely to post here if they have something to complain about rather than the people who are content with the line-up.
