Merry Christmas from all at Glasgowbury

 happy

Well, we’re coming to the end of an incredible year for music in Northern Ireland, the bands and artists who made it so special and for Glasgowbury.

The annual Small But Massive festival enjoyed one of its most special years yet – with a fantastic day of music, vibrant colour and good vibes all experienced by a sell out capacity crowd.

And with the tenth anniversary of the festival approaching next year, we’re already putting plans in place which will continue the festival’s grassroots ethos while continually providing a platform for the best new and exciting music culture.

Earlier in the year, Glasgowbury also secured the rights to bring the IMRO showcase to a rural and local stage and the venue was packed out – testament to the strength of the music scene.

Meanwhile the Group’s Rural Key Music Project was recognised by the Carnegie UK Trust as Northern Ireland’s ‘Rural Spark’, picking up an award at the iconic Eden Project in Cornwall.

And last month the Group were delighted to hear that we picked up SIX nominations for this year’s Irish Festival Awards – after coming away with two awards last year.

So we’re ending the year on a high – but we’re not resting on our laurels.

Expect to hear some exciting announcements early in 2010 regarding plans for the tenth annual Glasgowbury Music Festival.

And we hope that you, the people who have stuck with Glasgowbury from the start, those who joined the ship at a later stage or those who have simply followed the Group’s many activities throughout the year; can continue to support us and keep us energised throughout 2010 as we prepare for yet another fun-filled weekend of entertainment.

In the meantime, we wish all a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

From all the Glasgowbury Team.
